FAQ
A Brief History
How long have IV infusions been around?
The first infusion device was created sometime between 1632-1723 using a pig’s bladder. During the 1930’s modern injections and infusions were starting to be readily available. During the early part of the century, IV infusions were given via glass vacuum-sealed bottles. A few years later, they created lasting bags like the ones we use today. Dr. John Meyers started injecting patients with what he called a “cocktail” of vitamins and minerals in the 70’s, which is now known as the Meyers Cocktail. And it has developed since then, to what we know and have today.
